WMV, which stands for “Windows Media Video,” was created by Microsoft as a way to store compressed videos for the Windows Media framework. This container has three different types of video codec, so it can be used to watch videos online and share videos on HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
Google Drive is another choice that works on all computers. You can put the movie there and watch it in your browser with sample WMV files.
If you use Windows, the Windows Media Player and Microsoft Movies & TV players come with the OS and can play these files. Sample WMV files can also be used on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux to open WMV files.
The first version of the WMV codec was released as an option to the popular RealVideo codec for streaming videos on the web. Later, WMV Screen and WMV Image were added to make it easier to present content in a physical way. “Digital Rights Management (DRM)” is a signature feature of the WMV format that keeps material safe from copyright violations and illegal copies.
How to play WMV files?
Figure out where the WMV file you want to open is saved.
Open Creator NXT and go to File > Open.
Pick out the file(s) and click “Open.”
Use Creators’ many audio and video editing tools to change the file.
Make sure to save your file before you close Creator. Press “File” and then “Save As.” And give it any name you want.
The best things to do if you’re using Windows are Movies & TV or Windows Media Player, which come with most versions of Windows. After version 9, WMP stopped being made for macOS. Mac users can still use Switch, but it’s only free during the trial time.
Alternatives like VLC, DivX Player, KMPlayer, and MPlayer are all free and work on both Mac and Windows. There are a lot more. Another WMV player for Macs is Elmedia Player.
Creator NXT lets you play WMV files on Windows.
